In order to begin using PADS you must first set up the Marking Period Properties. This will allow you to set when users are able to enter grades and when grade submission is due. You will also be able to set the grading categories you would like to use in PADS.
Before setting up PADS you must download the All Teacher single file in STARS. To do this click Grades>Data Exchange in STARS.
Where to Start
Upload EGG File
Using the Data Extractor, go to the File tab, down to PADS and click on Upload EGG File. Upload the All Teacher EGG file for the appropriate term and marking period downloaded from STARS.
Setup Marking Period Properties
1.Access the PADS portal by going to Portals and clicking PADS.
2.Select Setup and then NYC HSST PADS.

- Select the Marking Period.
- Select the Marking Period Open and Closed dates for when the portal should be open for teachers to submit grades.
- Select the Grading Period start and end dates. These are the dates of the actual grading period.
- Check off the boxes for which columns you want to enable to accept marks.
- Click the Save Settings button to save
Define Valid Marks
- Select the Marking Period from the drop-down box.
- If this is not the first marking period, you can select a previous marking period to import valid grade marks set up already.
- To disable marks for grade submission click the check box.
Define Valid Exam Marks
This step is only necessary if the Exam column was enabled during the setup of marking periods
- Select the Marking Period from the drop-down box.
- If this is not the first marking period you can select a previous marking period to Import the Valid Grades.
- To disable marks for grade submission click the check box.
