In this lesson, you will review how to create a bubble sheet for a DDC exam. DDC's main feature is the creation of bubble sheets on plain letter size paper that can be scanned and corrected with a standard scanner. In this tutorial we will go over the creation of the bubble sheets that accompany your assessment.
Where to Start
After logging into Skedula access the"Portals" tab on the left, then click "DDC Exam Portal"
At the top of the screen click the "Exams" section
On the left side of this page you will see 3 directories: Private Exams, District, and School
These directories determine which users have access to the exam
Use your schools folder if other teachers in your school should have access to this exam
Use the Private Exams directory if only you should have access to this exam
If using the Private Exams directory for the first time, right click "Private Exams" and "Create Folder" within the directory. Folder creation can be done for your schools directory as well
Select the directory that you wish to save this exam in
Click the "Create New" button on the far right hand corner of the page to create a new bubble sheet
You will be then brought to the first step of creating an exam.
Enter a title for your exam. Be sure to be descriptive in your exam title
Select the format of the question numbers
Select the direction of how the bubbles are displayed
Click the blue "Next" button in the bottom right hand corner of the page
On this page we will create the bubble sheet itself.
The first "Section Type" selected is the Multiple Choice selection
Enter a header for the Multiple Choice section
Type in the number of Multiple Choice questions in your exam
Type in the amount of bubbles provided for each question
Ex: ABC, ABCD or ABCDE
You can also change the multiple choice sequence
Change this if your test has another format. See the drop down menu to change the selection
You last step is to click the "Add Section" button
You can see a preview of your bubble sheet by clicking the "Preview" button.
Click the blue "Next" button if you have added all sections to your exam
The second section type available is the "Constructed Response" selection
This section provides a space for students to write their response and the teacher will score the sample on the right hand side of the page
Select "Constructed Response" from the drop down menu
Enter a header for the Constructed Response section
Type in the number of Constructed Response questions in this section
Enter the amount of space you want to provide for each question
If this is a math or science Constructed Response question, you may want to uncheck the "Show Lines" option so students can show their work in a blank space
Click the "Add Section" button
Preview your answer sheet with the blue "Preview" button
Click the blue "Next" button if you have added all sections to your exam
The final section type is a "Manually Scored Response"
This section is strictly for scoring purposes. A teacher would score a rubric in this section, an Oral section to this exam or even an essay done on separate paper
Select "Manually Scored Response" from the drop down menu
Enter the title or header for this section
Type in the number of questions
Click the "Add Section" button
Click the blue "Next" button to move to the next step
On this page we have to complete the answer key to our multiple choice section and/or change the point values for each question.
On the far left, see the section and question numbers to the bubble sheet you created on the prior page
Click the right answer for each Multiple Choice question
Change the point value for each question if desired under the "Value" column
Click the preview button to get a sample of your bubble sheet
If a question value is set to 5 points or more, bubbles will be removed and brackets will be provided. Write legibly, one digit in each bracket when scoring. The exam scanner software will pick up the number written in the space. Ex: If a student scores 5 points, write a 5 in any one of the spaces
You will see the final properties of your exam. Go back or forward if any properties need to be changed.
Once complete click the blue "Finish" button to save your exam. You can now find this exam within the Exam Directory from Step 3
